book: To quell the Terror
I also believe, my own surmise is that when Mother Lidoine visited Paris to visit her mother- as was written, many critisized her for not assuming her responsibilties for her aging mother as a dutiful daughter- and I believe that among these were individuals who reasoned that Mother Lidoine was not a religious any longer since they were laisized by the government and no longer live in a convent or wear holy Habits, so the reasoning follows, she should resume a life of regular society. YET- when to the shock of all I believe- they appeared, out of nowhere- virtually- in Paris; where religious habits had hence been long since disposed of - and the sisters were dressed in full Carmelite Holy garb- there was an audible gasp and Vindication of the sisters. Indeed they were Religous to the Hilt- to the shock of all. Many of mother Lidoines detractors were I am sure- dumbfounded, speechless and no doubt Mortified. Praise be to God for Vindicating his precious brides in the eyes of the faithless Parisiens- and the shame and shock of their reprehensible actions against the hieght and summit of existance- no doubt filled the people with a shock of reality - where the blame was then returned to the authorities for overseeing this reprehensible act- and the mayor the council, the president met their end.
