Devotions to Blessed Mother

Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is native to the Christian Faith – simply because Jesus, her Son was the first to have it. Yes, we know and love the Blessed Virgin Mary as a mother, and the greatest of mothers. Appreciating this will help to avoid the grave misunderstanding that Catholics worship her in place of Christ. How unfortunate is this erroneous view, that deprives souls of the comfort and aid from our heavenly Mother.

Conceived Immaculate, never touched by sin, endowed with every virtue in the highest degree, there is no honor too great for Our Lord to bestow on His Mother. He loved her more tenderly than any Son could be loved and closely associated her in His work of Redemption, not by necessity, but by His choice. On the cross, He gave us what we poor children needed the most: “Behold Your Mother.” Marian devotion has always been a large part of Catholic life, even the life of the apostles, whom she personally aided in the first days of the Church.

“We never give more honor to Jesus than when we honor His Mother, and we honor her simply and solely to honor Him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek - Jesus, her Son.” --Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” - Saint Maximilian Kolbe

"Only after the Last Judgment will Mary get any rest; from now until then, she is much too busy with her children."--St. John Vianney
